At Waseda University I teach courses related to the history and philosophy of science and history of mathematics.

My research interests are in the exact sciences of the ancient and medieval periods. I am currently collaborating with colleagues on projects related to the history of spherical geometry and Arabic translations of works in the Greek mathematical sciences. I am writing a book on Ptolemy's mathematical methods. I am Co-Editor-in-Chief of Historia Mathematica, and Chief Editor of SCIAMVS.
