Professional career

Takeshi Yoshimura was born on December 19th, 1948. He received the B.E. and the M.E. degrees both in Electronics Engineering from Osaka University in 1972 and 1974, respectively. He also received the Dr. of Engineering from the same university in 1997.  He joined the Central Research Laboratories of NEC corporation in 1974 and worked there for 28 years until 2002.  During 1979-1980, he studied channel routing problem at UCB. After leaving NEC in 2002, he became an invited researcher of Kitakyushu Foundation for the Advancement of Industry Science and Technology(FAIS). Then, he became Professor at Graduate School of Information, Production and Systems at Waseda University, Kitakyushu in April, 2003.

Research career

In research, Dr. Yoshimura worked on the R&D of various algorithms based on graph and network theory. The work covers the following area:

- Water pipe network operation planning , including the planning of water distribution from sources to sinks(demand points), the flow and pressure analysis in the network, the water demand forecasting, the calculation of optimum pump and valve pressure, etc)

- Topological design for computer networks and data transmission networks.

- System LSICAD which includes logic synthesis system, placement* &, routing systems for standardcell LSIs and Gate Array LSIs., compaction algorithms and floor planning system*.  *received best paper awards from IEICE Japan and IEEE)

- Conflict detection &resolution for airplane flight scheduling

He also developed an efficient algorithm for channel routing with professor E. S. Kuh when he studied at University of California, Berkeley.  Later, the algorithm was called gYoshimura and Kuhfs Algorithmsh.

Professional activities

Dr. Yoshimura served many conferences; Technical program committee chair, Publication chair, Secretary of Organizing committee and Steering committee vice chair of ASPDAC, Committee members of ICCAD, DATE, ISCAS, APCCAS and JTC-CSCC. He served as an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems from 1990 to 1992, and has been an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Computer Aided Design since 1995.

Awards

Dr. Yoshimura received the best paper awards from IEICE Japan and IEEE CAS Society.
