How to Improve Your Skills in English

Many students ask me how they can improve their English abilities. As a teacher of English and a learner of Japanese, I can give some general suggestions for effective language learning and I can recommend some materials and web sites.

But for specific suggestions for Japanese learners of English, it's better to ask the experts--Japanese people who have already achieved a high level of English ability.

The pages listed below were written by students in the 1997 Advanced English Writing class, students who have a lot of experience in studying English. Try their suggestions to find the ones that work best for you!

Note: Many of the authors included their e-mail addresses at the end of their essays, but these addresses are now out of date after several years. Sorry!
