Office Akagi is one of the labs in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of Waseda Univ. Prof. Akagi specializes in the area of Soil Mechanics and Environmental Geotechnics. It has been 27 years since Office Akagi was established in the Apr. of 1984.

Main Research

Characterization of Geomaterials and Simulation of Geotechnical Construction
1) Characterization of sand, clay and rock with microscopic structures.
2) Finite element simulation of geotechnical construction process, as in shield tunnelling, chemical grouting, pile driving.
3) Environmental geotechnics, as in reuse of construction wastes

Researchers

Office Akagi currently has 16 research members. The members include a doctor course student, 7 graduate students and 9 undergraduate students. Currently we also host two international students in our lab; one from Solomon Islands and the other from Germany.
