Barracks バラック

In this topic, barracks mean the personal occupancy of lands and spaces not depending on the social system, and the group self-government by that. It is a collection study of the purchase of modernism that is based on this "barracks".

This article is a comparative analysis of "Barracks" between Buchenwald, Germany, and Omori, Japan by Martin Bohl of Weimar, Germany.
In Buchenwald and Omori, there were concentration camps for the Nazi's and concentration camps for the Japanese army. Both were created during World War II, and the two are common in terms of the production method (= technology according to industrialization) of the barracks. However, the most interesting point is the difference in land use between the two countries that followed up on the region after the end of the historical event and the use of the language "Barracks".
Currently, Buchenwald has various facilities such as a monument and a memorial hall, which is a concentration camp, while Oomori has a boat race track and amusement facilities. It is an attempt to see the origin of modernism in Germany and Japan in this strange difference.
